Leak-Free Joints – Built-In Inspection Windows

Getting a perfect joint shouldn’t be a guessing game. That’s why every Instantor MLCP fitting is designed with inspection windows, allowing you to visibly confirm the pipe is inserted to the correct depth before pressing. This simple check adds an extra layer of confidence, helping you avoid missed joints, and expensive call-backs. Combined with our precision-engineered fittings, it means you can leave every job knowing with the confidence you won’t be called back.

Extensive Offering – Sizes for Every Job

From small domestic installations to large scale commercial and industrial projects, our MLCP range has you covered. Available in sizes from 16 mm to 63 mm, you can use the same proven system across a wide range of applications, keeping your installations consistent. One system, one set of fittings, less hassle on site and fewer chances for mistakes.

Quick to Install – Three Simple Steps

With Instantor MLCP, installation is fast, consistent, and safe, no flames, flux, or sealing agents required. Simply:

  • Cut the pipe squarely to the desired length with a suitable cutting tool.
  • Calibrate using the reamer to remove burrs and rough edges (a cleanly calibrated pipe protects the O-rings).
  • Press the fitting with TH Profile Jaws, confirming full insertion by checking that the white pipe is visible through the inspection windows.

In just three steps you have a permanent, leak-free joint that’s ready for pressure testing.

FAQ’s

MLCP stands for Multilayer Composite Pipe, a clever mix of plastic layers with a slim aluminium core. The result is a pipe that’s tough, corrosion-resistant, and a dream to work with. You might also hear it called PEX-AL-PEX because the aluminium sits between two PEX layers, keeping the pipe in shape once you bend it and stopping oxygen getting into the system, perfect for heating jobs. It’s the go-to choice for hot and cold water, underfloor heating, and just about anywhere you need a reliable, easy-to-install pipe.

No, you cannot yse MLCP pipe or fittings for gas connections, it is solely designed to be used in water, heading and cooling applications.

To connect MLCP pipe, you’ll use a press tool, a specialised tool that compresses the fitting and creates a secure, permanent joint. Instantor offers a full range of press tools and jaws designed to work seamlessly with our system, so you can get a perfect seal every time. Explore our press tools here

MLCP, or Multilayer Composite Pipe, works by combining the best qualities of plastic and metal in one pipe. As you can see above, it’s built in five layers:

  • Inner PEX Layer: Safe for drinking water, corrosion-resistant
  • Adhesive Layers: Bond the materials together so the pipe acts as a single piece
  • Butt-Welded Aluminium Core: Gives the pipe strength, stops oxygen getting in, and lets it hold its shape after bending
  • Outer PEX Layer: Adds flexibility and protects the aluminium

When you press an Instantor fitting onto MLCP, the aluminium layer prevents the pipe from shrinking or deforming, giving you a tight, leak-free seal every time. That’s why it’s trusted for everything from potable water to heating and underfloor systems.
